"Now You See It, Now You Don't..."

About the Author
Eric Smith has spent a lifetime on the water — and in the thick of everything that floats, leaks, or mysteriously vanishes.
Over the course of his career, he founded three yacht businesses, sold more than 1,000 boats, and competed as a successful sailboat racer. He also worked as a technical writer, consultant, entrepreneur, and ringmaster of the occasional dockside circus. He’s appeared and lectured at 54 Annapolis Boat Shows — which might be a record, or at least a really good streak.
Now semi-retired (or at least distracted), Eric has turned his attention to storytelling — starting with this mostly true memoir about a luxury yacht that simply... disappeared. Along the way, there are run-ins with the FBI, Coast Guard, Navy, and maybe even a few pirates. Names may have been changed, but the chaos is all real

Life’s funny. Like sailing, it has a way of making you tack off course just when you think you’ve found your groove. My old friend Pete reminded me of that — in front of a jewelry store at a Colorado Motorcycle Rally, of all places. Link
